About DJ DICE...
In
the 1980’s Craig Jenkins developed a passion for nightclubs and the
DJs who gave them life. He was
inspired by the DJs who could build dance floor energy by mixing from one song
to the next while dancers were unaware of this transition.
In 1989 he bought a pair of
turntables and a mixing board from a retiring DJ.
Soon after, he began DJing house parties, boat cruises and making tapes
for friends.
In 1992, a friend asked him to DJ her
wedding reception. This was
Craig’s first “paid” gig. Several
wedding receptions soon followed.
In 1995 Craig’s long time mentor -
legendary Seattle DJ, Mike Joyce asked him to be his back up during an extended
European vacation. This would be
Craig’s first nightclub appearance. At
that time, Craig was dubbed “DJ DICE” for a tattoo acquired years
earlier.
In 1996, DJ DICE got his first
resident DJ gig at Lox Stock on the "Ave." in the University
District. He soon joined Northwest
Dance Music Association and has been a member through 2003.
This is an organization of 50 DJs from the Northwest who support the
music industry by introducing new music to the dancing public. This association provided DJ DICE with the much of the latest in urban
and dance music in addition to access to a network of Seattle's best
DJs.
Since 1992 DJ DICE has performed at
over a hundred wedding receptions, for dozens of birthday, Halloween, New Years
Eve and various other celebrations as well as 14 different night clubs in the
Puget Sound area. He is driven by
his passion to bring together friends and strangers alike for the pure joy only
a night of dancing can bring.
